About Local Law 84:

Under the New York City Greener, Greater Buildings Plan (GGBP) all buildings over 50,000 square in gross area are required to annually measure their building’s energy conception thru benchmarking. As the first law in the GGBP, Local Law 84 provides a standardized process to capture information about how your building uses energy that Is compared to like buildings within the New York City market.

Local Law 84 Benchmarking gives building owners and managers the tools they need to clearly understand how their building uses energy, what amount of energy goes into each aspect of the building’s operation (e.g. computers, heating, cooling…..) and how their building compares to other similar buildings in the New York market. However, with our service you have the option to conduct benchmarking on a monthly basis rather than annually. Benchmarking is the process of measuring your building’s energy and water consumption, and comparing it with that of similar buildings. 1. Gather survey information about your buildings.

 

2. Obtain common area utility bills from Con Ed and National Grid.

 

3. Compile and analyze your data.

 

4. Review your information for accuracy.

 

5. Upload information to Energy Star Portfolio Manager as required by law.

 

6. Submit your benchmarking report to the NYC Department of Finance and confirm receipt and compliance.
